Location: Portland, Oregon
Shop: Twisted (Stop 1 of 3 on February 7, 2012)
Owners: Shannon and Emily
This 5 year old shop is not your grandma's knit shop. One of the bigger yarn shops I've been to in Portland. Lots of room means lots of products, and very spaciously laid out. Plus, they open at 9am, quite a bit earlier than a lot of the other yarn shops in town. A nice table in the back where classes are held and fun comments are made on pictures hanging on the wall, which is what the above picture is about.
Although owned by two women, I've only met Shannon. A young mother who is very involved in her shop and her family.
The Crafts section has a nice selection of buttons (if I do say so myself). There's also a comfortable sitting and hanging out area in the front of the shop.
The only drawback about this awesome shop is the lack of a parking lot. The NE Broadway neighborhood does offer plenty of street parking though. We found plenty of great places to eat within one block of the place, too. The gals at the yarn shop frequent the bagel shop at the end of the block, and I found Skyline Burgers to be absolutely delicious, specifically the mushroom burger.
